At the beginning of June 2010, this website reported that the ECo-C was close to being launched in Hungary. While the due date for the launch is coming closer and closer, milestones on this path continue to be reached.
On Monday the 26th of June, Prof. Sándor Bordás, appointed to serve as Academic Advisor for the Hungarian ECo-C Hungary was in Vienna, attending an ECo-C certification workshop. Such workshops are required before the process can be completed and the ECo-C made available to Hungarian customers and speakers. Their completion and execution is therefore a good and strong sign that the launch process is on track, that we will soon be able to report the appropriate success.
For the ECo-C, Hungary remains very much a „stress test“ , in the sense that it will be the second non-German-speaking country to adopt the certificate, as well as expanding the certificate to a third linguistic unit. It will thus serve to truly enshrine the continent-wide scope of the certificate: although accepted in theory, it will now be established in fact.
And as for the rest? As reported in another recent article, the ECo-C is due to be launched in another four countries before 2012; readers will therefore have the opportunity to anticipate these launches from reports of comings and goings and exchanges increasing over the upcoming months.
