The summer is traditionally known as “silly season” when it comes to serious news; and indeed, after June 21st, news outlets and their readership seem to develop as much a tendency to write about belching competitions, as to read about the latest news from the hot dog eating competition. Holiday goers are generally not much of a serious crowd: they wish to be happy and entertained, and thus find serious news a burden.
On the other hand though, we at ECo-C.eu news have remained exempt from such silliness, largely because our goal is not to address the holidays of our readership, but to inform on a certificate dedicated to making everyday life easier and more pleasant. And in this train of thought, we must now report on an exciting, interesting development on the side of IPKeurope.
You have probably seen a mention or two of the ipad on this website: indeed, since its release, this device has been most useful to the organisation in its many events. This is largely due to the polyvalent, interoperable nature of the item. Being very simple to use, and benefitting from a rich range of cheaply-priced applications, it is the ideal support for innumerable kinds of presentations.
Well, it is about to get better yet. Insider IPKeurope intelligence (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) suggests that the organisation has decided to team up with two developers to create a new ipad application that will be useful to professionals who have worked with, or want to work with, the ECo-C. The same sources report that, in the main, they are expecting the application to be released on Communication Day 2011 (that is to say, March 5th of that year).
But as to what it contains? Well, in this instance, it would not really be a matter of what, as much as a matter of how: clearly, this would have something to do with the ECo-C, and equally clearly, it will be used as a supporting tool for professionals, whether on the HR side or on the expert side. The question is the format: should it be an encyclopaedic-flowchart type of resource, or a “personnel database” resource? Should it focus on helping people realise communication problems and interpret them properly, or should it be more of a day-to-day registry of interactions, problematic and personal stances or goals?
One thing is certain: this is very far from a silly project, and will most definitely bear watching in coming months!
